What is the Order of the Eastern Star?
The Order of the Eastern Star (OES) is a fraternal organization open to women and men with a Masonic affiliation. Founded on biblical principles personified by five heroines — Adah, Ruth, Esther, Martha, and Electa — the Order centers on fidelity, obedience, loyalty, truth, and heroic endurance.
What is the Noble Rose Christine W. Hayes Grand Chapter?
We are the Florida Grand Chapter of International Free and Accepted Modern Masons, Inc. and Order of the Eastern Star, operating under the Pernella Tubbs Supreme Grand Chapter. The Grand Chapter serves as the governing body of local OES chapters throughout Florida.
Who can become a member?
Membership is open to spiritual women of high moral and social character who wish to contribute their time, energy, and wisdom toward charity, truth, and loving kindness. Members must meet the eligibility requirements set by International Masons and the local subordinate chapter.
How do I petition for membership?
Begin by contacting the Grand Chapter or visiting an open event at a local subordinate chapter. A current member in good standing can sponsor your petition. Visit our Become a Star page or use the Contact form to be connected with the chapter nearest you.
When and where does the Grand Chapter meet?
Our major annual gatherings are the Florida Grand Joint Council (February), the Florida Grand Session (April), and the Florida Grand Officers Meeting (August). See the Calendar page for current dates, locations, and registration links.
Are events open to non-members?
Some sessions and community service events are open to the public, while ritual meetings are restricted to members. Check the Calendar for each event’s audience or contact us before attending.
What is the relationship between OES and the Masons?
The OES is a female companion order to the Masonic Lodge of Free Masons. Within International Masons, OES chapters work cooperatively with their Lodge counterparts under the Grand Joint Council.
