1. What is International Free and Accepted Modern Masons, Inc. and Order of the Eastern Star?"It is a Fraternal Order based upon Christian principles. Its purposes are to guide members in carrying out an obligation of self—discipline; to assist members to become better citizens; to provide an educational program that instills and encourages moral practices; to foster knowledge, understanding, and unity for those carrying out the duties of a leader.

2. Why should I join this fraternity?We offer members an opportunity to gain wisdom, knowledge and understanding of Freemasonry and the Order of the Eastern Star. Also, one can meet and make friends from all over the world.

3. What are some of the outstanding benefits of membership?A. An endowment benefit at a level of your choice. B. The prestige of belonging to an International Masonic Order. C. Having the benefit of being a delegate throughout your state, the United States, and to foreign lands. D. Being able to build upon your skills with constant leadership development training. E. Being taught how to use and practice self-discipline which can earn you respect, honor, and pride.

4. What are personal benefits?Personal growth and development, leadership skills, and unlimited travel opportunities.

5. Does International Masons publish any literature?Yes, International Masons has a national newsletter (i.e. Masonic World News) which is published and sent to members via annual subscription. We also publish our own rituals and other literature for the edification of our members and their families.

6. How old is the fraternity?Freemasonry was among the first universal fraternities known to mankind. International Free and Accepted Modern Masons, Inc. and Order of the Eastern Star was incorporated as a religious Masonic fraternity in 1950.

7. What are some of the major accomplishments of this fraternity?We were the first Christian based fraternity to project the credo that whatever is wrong in the Christian church is wrong in our Lodges/Chapter. We provided the capital to construct the first Black owned and operated TV (TV-62) and radio station (WGPR FM) in the city of Detroit.

8. Is the fraternity politically oriented?No, we believe member’s funds and efforts should be directed towards developing and improving programs for members and the communities in which they live, work, and socialize.

9. How much are membership dues?A. Membership dues are set by majority vote of the lodge/chapter for which the individual is joining. B. Endowment is chosen by the individual member in each degree or entity.

10. What is meant by “Free and Accepted" Mason?"“Free and Accepted”, as applied to a Masonic Lodge which means a male 21 years of age may petition to become a member. However, a male or female must be accepted by the particular Lodge/Chapter before they may become a member thereof.
